In-Kind Donations
We rely on donations, both in-kind and monetary, to run our multifaceted programs—everything from construction paper to lab equipment gets put to great use with us. However, shipping to Kenya is extremely complicated and costly; in general, we suggest that people interested in making a specific in-kind item donation allow us to purchase the product in Kenya, and donate the cost instead.
If you are interested in this option, please email Jessica at Jessica@shininghopeforcommunities.org for Kenya-price information.
Audio recordings of children’s books
Our students are learning to read, and we need your help! To encourage the development of their literacy skills, we want to pair audio recordings with their favorite books. This will encourage their reading skills and make learning even more fun.
How can you help?
Look through our library (Download Library), pick out a book that you already have at home, and then record yourself reading it. We are particularly interested in short story books for our youngest students, those labeled E and EC in our library. Please read slowly and very clearly. Silly voices are highly encouraged! You can use a tape recorder or your computer to record yourself, and then send us an mp3 file. Please email alix@shininghopeforcommunities.org with your choice of book and the mp3 file.
