School-to-School Program

SCHOOL-TO-SCHOOL PROGRAM

The Kibera School for Girls is looking for other kids to partner with us to make the dream of education a reality for our girls!

Do you want to…

  • Learn about East Africa?
  • Forge a meaningful connection with the Kibera School for Girls?
  • Educate peers about the problems facing children and families in Kibera?
  • Help create a better future for the world?

If yes: than the Shining Hope School-to-School Program is for you!

Why We Need Your Help: To succeed in school, the students in Kibera need school supplies, uniforms, medicine, nutritious lunch, and good teachers. These children’s parents make less than $1 a day, and that’s why the school is completely free. To learn more about the hardships people face in Kibera, see our website’s “About Kibera” section.

What is a School-to-School Partner?

  • School-to-School Partners want to learn more about the Kibera School for Girls, and the lives of our students! They plan programs to educate themselves and each other about life in Kenya, and in doing so, raise funds to help their friends in Kibera go to school.
  • There are two levels of School-to-School Partners. All School-to-School Partners raise a minimum of $500/year for the school. Gold Star Partners raise a minimum of $1,000.
  • Once their projects are completed, School-to-School Partners are recognized on the Shining Hope website. They also get a letter, picture, and home-video from the Kibera School for Girls. And finally, they are invited to participate in an exchange with the Kibera School for Girls through letter-writing.
  • Gold Star Partners are invited for a live educational exchange with a class of Kibera School for Girls students over Skype!
